Experimental Type

Typography

This is a personal project that I started for myself in order to explore typography through nontraditional methods of design. This section of my portfolio site is updated weekly with a new quote.

These type pieces can also be viewed on my Instagram.

“Always remember, uteruses before duderuses.”
One of my all time favorite Leslie Knope quotes I made a while ago. Posted in recognition of International Women's Day. 🌹

“Grooovy.”
February was a busy month! I'm happy I was able to pick this up again. I really enjoyed making this type piece and playing with bright, saturated colors. Along with this piece, I've been working on a side project that incorporates design styles of the 60's and 70's for my stepfather and it's been a nice change of pace.

“Heat.”
I ran out of time this week to do a full quote, so I expanded upon a typographic logo I was working on that didn't make the cut. For the black and white version, I explored the illusion of depth and three-dimensionality. For the version in color, I experimented with pattern and was inspired by the idea of heat maps.

“Makin' Bacon Pancakes.”
One of my favorite internet memes of all time. If you don't know what this quote is referring to, click this link NOW! You won't be dissapointed.

“Fair winds and following seas.”
A sailor quote that was inspired by my husband.

01.18.17

“The sun will rise.”
Written with a chalk marker on a window.

01.18.17

“Bring it.”
Commemorating the beginning of the last semester of my undergraduate.
